Hailey and Justin Bieber are fighting back against those who are Christian shaming them for celebrating Halloween. The couple attends Hillsong Church and make up part of the celebrity group that not only publicly professes faith in Jesus Christ, but has a strong church attendance. Along with the Biebers, the Kardashians and Jenners and Selena Gomez are celebrities who publicly attend Hillsong’s church services and conferences. Hailey caused a bit of an Internet stir when she answered a critic who didn’t feel that as a Christian she should celebrate Halloween. Hailey chose to respond to the remarks in a now-deleted Instagram snap where she shared a quote from Hillsong pastor Nathan Finochio.

Not everyone understood the quote as it talked about church history, the origins of modern-day holidays, and spoke to those who identify as Evangelical Christians who may have been taught that Halloween is the “devil’s holiday.”

Hailey responded in a lengthy Instagram story that left more of her followers confused than it did explain that she and Justin were simply going to celebrate Halloween and have fun doing so.

You may see a story by Clevver News that shows Hailey’s original, yet now-deleted Instagram story where she explained why she is celebrating Halloween in the video player below.

Hailey posted the following in what some are calling a “bizarre rant” as she explained why she will celebrate the holiday that has pagan roots.

“I’m a Christian. Do you have any idea what that means historically? It means I redefine everything in culture. Pagan Feast of Winter Solstice? Oh that’s now JESUS BIRTHDAY. Pagan Feast of Spring Planting? Oh that’s now EASTER WEEKEND. Pagan Celtic Fesitval involving dressing up and warding off evil spirits? ‘Oh now it’s All Saints Day and we celebrate the VICTORIOUS CHURCH THAT HAS OVERCOME THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB!!! CANDY PLEASE!!!”

While not all Christians hold a negative view about Halloween, there are some who don’t celebrate the holiday as they feel it gives glory to the devil instead of God.

Some churches hold alternative celebrations such as “Hallelujah Night” where attendees can dress up in non-scary costumes and get candy.

It seems Hailey Bieber has no long-standing issue with Halloween and she and Justin will celebrate the holiday the way they see fit.
